First character design project!

This was the project that started it all for me, cementing the fact that I definitely prefer designing characters and their environments to actually animating them. The character I ended up with means a lot to me now, and I really hope to use her again in the future sometime for another project!

As with any project, I had to start somewhere, so I started off with very rough shapes until I saw some amongst the mess that really caught my eye.

I developed multiple characters but when I went in to more detail with one particular character I knew she would be the one I went with. The idea of a tiny little cyclops girl who was both cute and terrifying was just too adorable to pass up!

I was really thorough with her development. I went through multiple eye styles, hair styles and outfits until I was finally satisfied with her design.

Once I had her shapes down I worked on her personality and had a lot of fun working out how she'd react to certain situations.

With her boisterous personality pinned down the only thing left to do was pick out her colours! I went through a lot of (mostly awful...) choices before I finally settled on colours that worked nicely together.

The last thing I did with her was put her in a scene, specifically her own room, playing with her toys. This helped give her character a bit more life!
