Walk, walk fashion baby!

I've always loved a challenge, and when I was told my next project would be a series of 4 special weekly projects I actually got pretty excited. These sorts of things are designed to push your abilities and force you out of your comfort zone, and I really enjoy exploring new things this way!

So, what was the first week about? Fashion!
I was told to look at outfits (and not the models wearing them, if there were any) and create characters based on the clothes themselves.
I'd definitely never done anything like this before, but I went right to work sketching out a lot of different ideas based on many different outfits I found randomly online and in magazines.

In the end I decided to go with the (affectionately named by myself) fashionable hardcore guy, mushroom guy and plant girl!
Here's the original outfit that inspired the hardcore guy. I loved how strange the proportions were!

I took the rough sketch of him and developed him from there, finally coming up with this final pose:

Just to make his final design a bit more official I redrew the sketch digitally!

Next up was the mushroom guy, who's outfit just spoke to me on so many levels...

It took me a few tries to get his design down properly, but these were the first versions of him I came up with.

I'm rather picky with final images and I didn't really like this one much, so I ended up going back to the sketch, redrawing it and then drawing that new image digitally instead.

There, much better!
Lastly, I worked on the plant girl, who was based on the dress on the far right here:

I really wanted her to capture the energy of the dress itself so she ended up as a young, excited girl who was just as colourful as her dress!
